"Real science in Science Fiction. This is a must read for fans of SF." >(John S. Gertsch, Reviewer)

Perfect for fans of Peter F. Hamilton, Iain M. Banks, and Orson Scott Card, Fear the Sky is a hard-hitting sci-fi thriller that will have you looking at the stars in a different way.

In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out. Their technology is vastly superior to ours, and they know they cannot possibly lose the coming conflict. But they, like us, have found no answer to the destructive force of the atom, and they have no intention of facing the onslaught of our primitive nuclear arsenal or the devastation it would wreak on the planet they crave. So they have flung out an advance party in front of them, hidden within one of the countless asteroids randomly roaming the void. They do not want us, they want our planet. Their Agents are arriving.

Engaging story and interesting characters, with original elements I'd not seen in other "aliens out to get us" stories. BUT... OMG this book is wordy. The sheer amount of detail is overwhelming and the editors should have used a firmer hand. I appreciate wanting to provide good descriptions and authentic-sounding technology but it really did make this an impossibly slow read. For example, the author takes four paragraphs to describe, in painstaking detail, how a character disables an electronic lock on a front door. Completely non-essential plot detail that could have been done in 2 sentences. If you like detail or don't mind skimming over when your eyes start to cross, I recommend because the story is good.

Fear the Sky The Fear Saga Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Stephen Moss RC Bray Podium Publishing Books Reviews

It's a well-written page turner with a grand and reasonable premise aliens in desperate need of a habitable planet have found one, currently occupied.

The creative author has readers accept a sort of blend of alien psyche that is very human in thought pattern with a robotic body. In communication with all-seeing satellites that have hacked into everything in the Internet, these are powerful insidious enemies.

It's a masterful story with just the right blend of twists and turns. You're not likely to connect deeply with the characters, but they believable and interesting, providing a human element.

But make no mistake, this is a story of spies and war. The author has deep knowledge of planes, weapons, military strategy and more. He could easily write a historical fiction war novel and in many ways that is what this novel is. I came into this novel seeking something different so gave it four stars. If you like this kind of subject matter and style, you might give it five.
A 4.5-star review (if I had a 0.5 star possibility)

Very well written, and initially very intriguing for the scientist/engineer in me. Asteroids hurtling towards earth with physically unlikely characteristics. The entire book is very well written, interesting, and the plot keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat. My only gripe is that it (semi-spoiler alert) contains aliens arriving on earth, who manage to not only blend in physically, but also socially in terms of behaviour and culturally, e.g., in speech, mannerisms, and most unlikely, flirting successfully with unsuspecting humans. Technologically advanced aliens arriving on earth is quite believable, but for them to infiltrate and fool their surrounding humans so completely seems highly improbable (to me).

The basic idea for this novel is very interesting, and parts of the story worked well. Two issues resulted in my two-star rating. One is that there are some hugely improbable plot points. Can't go over these without being a spoiler. Yes, I know this is science fiction, but it should be tethered to reality. The second is that the book is very poorly edited, with lots of typos, grammatical errors, and word misuse. So, someone's interest is "peaked" rather than piqued, or they are in the "throws" of some issue rather than the throes. Phrases like "you were extolling me", and thinking that the members of a cohort are referred to as "cohorts" "four godlike cohorts soar far above" really got to me after a while. So, basic idea excellent, writer very promising, but really needs a first-rate editor.
Fear the Sky was a great book. I thought the characters of Neal Danielson, John Hunt and madeline Cavanaugh were really thought out and woven into the story line well. The concept of "androids" living among us with alien minds was fantastic. The fact that they couldn't use any technology without drawing attention to themselves because of the "eyes in the sky" was a real nice touch. I am excited on where this series is going. The concept is very well thought out. Love it.
Very good -- an unique -- take on the "alien invasion" concept, and a very compelling story. I did notice a few of the issues that others have pointed out (transit times for ICBMs, grammatical issues with things like "fare/fair," "to/too," etc., that indicate reliance on a spell checker rather than a good reader/editor workup), but the story concepts and the storyline itself was enough to make the errors forgivable (despite the fact that some of the grammatical errors were somewhat cringe-worthy at times).

The book certainly held my interest, and I found myself immediately downloading the second installment in anticipation of the continuing story.

If the author would secure a good, competent pre-reader with a critical eye, and/or a good copy editor to catch the grammatical details that can get past a spell-checker, I believe his future work would truly shine.

As it is, I'd mark this as one of the most enjoyable sci-fi books I've read in a while.
There were some loopholes to the story, nonetheless, it was still very entertaining and I couldn't put the book down! I decided to read this book during the downtime of my vacation in China and boy am I glad I found this on Unlimited. The characters in this book were all very original and the action scenes were very well articulated. What was so great about this book was that it made you care for the characters. Fights scenes were so suspenseful and it made me fear that certain characters might die. The scene in the basement was so intense that an elephant stomping through the living room wouldn't have been able to tear my eyes away from the book!! I understand that the whole concept of a super advanced alien race planning to take over Earth's resources has already been done multiple times, but Stephen Moss definitely changed the game up. The story was very well paced and there was never a moment where I was skipping lines to just get out of a certain section.
Engaging story and interesting characters, with original elements I'd not seen in other "aliens out to get us" stories. BUT... OMG this book is wordy. The sheer amount of detail is overwhelming and the editors should have used a firmer hand.
